Promises: "Banana Nut & Avocado Deep Treatment is just what the doctor ordered for dry, damaged hair. No Propylene Glycol. No Petroleum."

Directions: Apply a generous amount to wet hair. Gently massage into scalp and comb through with fingers or wide tooth comb. Cover with a plastic cap. Sit under hooded dryer for 5-20 minutes. Rinse with cool water.

Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Alcohol, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Stearic Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Musa Sapientum (Banana) Fruit Basil Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Honey Extract, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Tocopheryl Acetate, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Hydroxide, Fragrance (Parfum).

My Assessment: The first time I used this conditioner, it honestly confused me haha. When it's first scooped out it's on the thin side and has a gel-like feel, but after rubbing my palms together it quickly thickens to a creamy texture. Also, because of the consistency a little goes a long way.

On application it sinks into my hair, defines my new growth nicely (instantly triggering my hand-in-hair syndrome) and provides lots of slip, which I absolutely appreciate with all this new growth! Because of the slip it provides (and I do this with all conditioners), applying it first to my ends made it super easy to part my hair into smaller sections to get to my new growth.

I have deep conditioned with this conditioner both overnight and with heat from either my Hot Head heat cap or my Gold N' Hot conditioning cap, but it works best for me with heat (penetrates into my hair more effectively). It also has a pleasant fragrance that does not linger and rinses out well (does not cling to my hair or scalp).

After deep conditioning my hair feels so soft, smooth, and detangled. My bone straight ends clump together more than my new growth or texlaxed hair, but that's now the norm with my hair. Best thing about this conditioner is that the moisture it provides lasts. I used this conditioner to deep condition over night when I did my recent flexi rod set and was able to go 5 days without moisturizing my hair. Here's my day 4 hair from that flexi rod set.

Have you used this deep conditioner? Like it? Love it? Left it?

Feature on Naturally Curly: Banana Nut & Avocado Deep Treatment

Kurlee Belle Banana Avocado Deep Treatment

I wrote a little poem for this product. It goes something like this:
Banana Nut Deep Treatment,
I love you, I really do.
Amazing product, great ingredients
You make the BEST pre-poo.
With my Q-REdew
Okay, so my future in spoken word is dim. But this product? Simply divine.

Product Claim/Description:

For all Hair Types. Banana Nut & Avocado Deep Treatment is just what the doctor ordered for dry, damaged hair. Bring those tresses back to life with our smooth concoction of Banana, Avocado, Honey, and Coconut. Banana is rich in potassium and hailed for its moisturizing properties. Avocado contains fatty acids that nourish, smooth, and soften hair. Honey provides shine, while conditioning to make hair soft and supple. Coconut hydrates, conditions, and softens.

Performance/Delivery:

Yes, yes, and more yes. Did I say yes? I simply absolutely ADORE this product. I used it in conjunction with my Q-Redew as a pre-poo and detangling treatment. My hair was super soft, detangled like a dream, and just managed to be everything I ever asked of it. Once I rinsed it out of my hair, I didn’t even want to wash it anymore! My hair was so silky, smooth, and soft – if I hadn’t needed to get my scalp clean, I would have just left my hair as-is. This product FAR exceeded my expectations! I think I’m in loooooooooove….again (cue: Andre 3000).

Availability

Kurlee Belle products are available exclusively online at www.kurleebelle.com. I wish upon a star that I could find this deep treatment on my shelf at Target… Just putting that out there (I like to believe we can speak things into fruition).

Affordability

At $16.00 for 8oz, I’m not head over heels about the price. I’d feel a little more comfy about maybe 16oz for $20? That’s just me trying to be cheap though. Nevertheless, there’s two areas in my regimen that I’ll spring for – a good deep treatment, and a good curl definer. This just so happens to be one that I’ll drop the dough on.

Bonuses

All of the Kurlee Belle products, Banana Nut & Avocado Deep Treatment included, are free of parabens, sulfates, pthalates, mineral oil, PABA, DEA, synthetic color, petroleum, and propylene glycol. The products are also vegan, as well as cruelty and gluten free. Even if those things don’t matter to you (and I will be doing an article soon on why they should), the product is amazing at doing EXACTLY what it says it would do. All while maintaining a gentle banana scent that isn’t offensive to my senses (which is amazing, because I typically can’t stand anything banana).

Drawbacks

The only drawback for me was size. Because my hair is on the longer side, thick, and I tend to be heavy-handed, I wish this product were available in a 16oz size. Other than that, I have absolutely NOTHING bad to say about the Banana Nut & Avocado Deep Treatment!

Bottom Line

I HIGHLY recommend this product for transitioners. Naturals too, but especially for the ladies out there struggling with balancing two textures. Transitioning hair needs moisture, and it can be difficult to adequately and sufficiently moisturize both textures without leaving one short-changed. Sometimes, conditioners and treatments can make the natural hair feel like a dream, and the damaged or relaxed ends feel stiff, rough, brittle and dry – or vice versa. Some conditioners can even leave the straight ends stringy and oily. But not this product! I absolutely cannot find a single thing wrong with the ingredients and delivery of this product.
And that’s EXACTLY why I love supporting small business.

PRODUCT REVIEW: Onyx Rose Reviews Kurlee Belle Products

Almond and Shea Butter Moisturizing Shampoo

Description: Almond & Shea Butter Moisturizing Shampoo gently cleanses the hair and scalp without stripping natural oils. Almond nourishes the hair to help it grow long and strong. Shea Butter deeply moisturizes while repairing damage to the hair and scalp. Citrus contains vitamins that cleanse and increase scalp circulation.

Ingredients: Water (Aqua), Sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate, Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate, Cocamide MEA, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Sodium Lauryl Sulfoacetate, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Apple Cider Vinegar, Polyquaternium- 10, Polyquaternium-7, PEG-12 Dimethicone, PEG-150 Distearate, Tetrasodium EDTA, DMDM Hydantoin, Citric Acid, Fragrance (Parfum).

My Experience: When they say "moisturizing," they are not kidding. Just about every shampoo I have tried, with or without sulfates, leaves my hair feeling clean, yet a little stripped. As I applied the shampoo, there was something about the consistency that made me believe once I rinsed it out, my strands would feel soft and hydrated-- and they were! Needless to say, I was impressed and pleasantly surprised by this shampoo. *kisses bottle*

Banana Nut and Avocado Deep Treatment

Description: Banana Nut & Avocado Deep Treatment is just what the doctor ordered for dry, damaged hair. Bring those tresses back to life with our smooth concoction of Banana, Avocado, Honey and Coconut. Banana is rich in potassium and hailed for its moisturizing properties. Avocado contains fatty acids that nourish, smooth and soften hair. Honey provides shine while conditioning to make hair soft and supple. Coconut hydrates, conditions and softens.

My Experience:  I used the entire Kurlee Belle right after I took out my Marley Twists, so my hair was in dire need of quality moisturizing products. This deep treatment has a medium consistency (good slip) and the smell? So good. Makes me want to eat a whole loaf of banana nut bread (please don't judge me *Chris Brown voice*). Anyway, I applied the deep treatment and let it work its magic for about an hour (without heat). The result was moisturized kinks and curls that popped.

Rating: 4.5/5

Thirsty Kurls Leave-In Conditioner + Kurlee Tropical Oil Blend

Description (leave in): Thirsty Kurls Leave-In Conditioner provides "lots of slip" and moisture that detangles and softens curls. Hibiscus penetrates the cuticle to maintain acid balance. Aloe Vera soothes and moisturizes dry, damaged hair. Honey hydrates and helps the hair retain moisture.

Description (oil blend): Kurlee Tropical Oils Blend is a lubricating blend of essential tropical oils that is formulated to restore dry, damaged hair. Castor Oil is an emollient that contains fatty acids and encourages hair growth. Coconut oil strengthens and deeply moisturizes. Jojoba oil moisturizes and softens. Avocado Oil contains essential nutrients that promote hair growth and nourishment. Argan oil hydrates and strengthens for enhanced growth. Moringa oil leaves hair feeling silky.
Ingredients (leave in): Water (Aqua), Cetearyl Alcohol, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Behentrimonium Methosulfate, Simmondsia Chinsensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Emulsifying Wax, Hibiscus Rosa-Senensis Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Honey Extract, Tocopheryl Acetate, BHT, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Fragrance (Parfum).

Ingredients (oil blend): Glycine Soya (Soybean) Oil, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Argania Spinosa (Argan) Oil, Ricinus Cummunis (Castor) Oil, Moringo Oleifera (Moringa) Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, BHT, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Fragrance (Parfum).

My Experience: I used the leave-in to moisturize my hair for two-strand twists, as well as for a twistout on the kinky-curly weave I'm currently wearing. This leave-in, in conjunction with the Kurlee Tropical Oil Blend, left my two-strand twists moisturized and soft with a little sheen. Another plus is the scent of both products-- tropical and perfect for the summertime. As for the weave, the Kurlee Belle leave-in is the only leave-in I used that the hair responded well to. Peep the twistout below.

Rating for both products: 4/5

Kurl Defining Creme

Description: Kurl Defining Creme moisturizes, de-frizzes, and defines curls. For soft, shiny,
elongated curls. Cupuacu Butter promotes moisture and elasticity. Argan oil contains vitamins and fatty acids that strengthen and encourage growth. Shea butter moisturizes while repairing damage to the hair and scalp.

Ingredients:Terrinque, the owner of Kurlee Belle, informed me that they are reformulating this product, so the ingredients list is currently unavailable.

My Experience: I'm usually not a huge fan of curl-defining cremes simply because I've learned that no "curl-defining creme" is going to define or elongate these kinks and curls of mine. While this creme didn't define my curls, it was similar to the leave-in-- the difference, to me, is that the creme is much thicker than the leave-in and my hair retained moisture better with the leave-in.

Rating: 3/5

PRODUCT REVIEW: Lexi With The Curls Reviews Kurlee Belle Products

On Thursday evening after boot camp, I decided to wash my hair and do a twist out using some new products I was just gifted calledKurlee Belle.
I received the Almond and Shea Butter Moisturizing Shampoo, Banana Nut and Avocado Deep Treatment, Kurl Defining Creme, Kurlee Tropical Oils Blend, and the Thirsty Kurls Leave-In Conditioner
Screen Shot 2013-02-18 at 11.33.10 AM
I loved these products. Firstly, which is most important to me lol…they smell AMAZING! Every product smells like tropical goodness! It made me want to put it in my hair.
The Shampoo didn’t make my hair feel stripped and I was able to detangle my hair with it. I used the deep treatment in the shower for about 5 minutes and then rinsed it out (the directions say to sit under the dryer with it). Once again, my hair felt great!
When I got out, I used the Leave In conditioner and then in sections before I twisted, I used the Kurl Defining Creme. The consistency was good. It had a whipped type of consistency which I love. It didn’t feel greasy or anything after I put it in my hair. I did about 10 or so twists (some were 3 strand twists and one braid…random I know!). I put flexi rods on the end.
Here is the look after I took them out the next morning:

That night, I retwisted my hair adding just a little bit of the Leave In and the Kurl Defining Creme and took sections of the hair and retwisted. The next day, I had fab, big, elongated curls. I used flexi rods on the ends again.
I like it this day even better:

PRODUCT REVEIW: Blogger Melissa Chanel Reviews Kurlee Belle Products

Dry Flat Twist Out on Blown Out Hair

HAIR, HAIR, and MORE HAIR!!!! A new natural hair care product line launched last week by the name of Kurlee Belle and I was sooo excited to give them a shot on my natural hair. I recently sat up for about 3 hours and took my protective style box braids out that I had been rocking since early December (I miss them already...LOL).

In my package I received the Almond & Shea Butter Moisturizing Shampoo, Banana Nut & Avocado Deep Treatment, and Kurl Defining Creme. They all smell AMAZING ( I actually wanted to eat the DT ...LOL).

Almond & Shea Butter Moisturizing Shampoo: I really loved how my hair did NOT feel stripped or dry, the shampoo left my hair with tons of moisture and my scalp was super clean.

Banana Nut & Avocado Deep Treatment: OMG I wanted to eat this stuff out of the jar... LOL, so please be careful. When I added the deep conditioner I was able to detangle my hair with ease and my curls were super defined. I added a plastic cap and let it sit for around 30 mins while I caught up on my shows. When washing it out I still retained my moisture and the DT left my hair feeling soft.

Kurl Defining Creme: I sectioned my hair into four and began twisting with the Kurl Creme. This Kurl Creme was a bit thicker than what I normally used but it worked like a charm. I twisted all over on wet hair and my results were super defined hair. I have really soft hair so next time I will add a little gel with the Kurl Creme to get more of a hold because I do not retwist at night. If you retwist at night, you're good to go.

Check out a few iphone shots if you haven't already seen them on IG or twitter:
